Jim Rowland has been playing the
pubs and clubs of the Philadelphia
area for the last five years and writes
songs that are meaningful, funny, and
touching - occasionally venturing into
darker, edgy rock. Acoustic guitar
driven music in a rock setting. His most
recent CD is the album “Ordinary
Ghosts.”
The Basics:
Jim commonly performs with just voice
and acoustic guitar, but also frequently
teams up with other musicians... He often
performs with a band of semi-rotating
musicians called "The Ghosts."
Jim Rowland returned to music full-time
in 2004, having previously released an
album on RCA records with the group
"Me," and was the founding member of
"
The Skam," a popular Philadelphia
band of the 1980's. His music has
been featured on MTV's "The Real
World," the MTV Movie Awards, and
radio stations across the country. He
has performed with Allen Ginsberg,
Pure Prairie League, Tesla, Los
Lobos, Lyle Lovett, Pretty Poison, Joan
Jett and the Blackhearts, John Cafferty
and the Beaver Brown Band, Expose,
and Taylor Dayne, as well as local
greats like David Barry, Dennis
Gruenling, JB Kline, and Steve Guyger.

Jim has collaborated musically with the
poet Allen Ginsberg, Annie Haslam of
Renaissance, and Bob Miles of the TV
show "Miles of Music" (and more
recently "The Bob Miles School of Jazz
Blues and Beyond."  He has played
concerts opening for Los Lobos, Joan
Jett, and Lyle Lovett.  He is a regular
performer at events hosted by the
artist Peter Max, and for NJN public
television.
History
Jim is the songwriting lecturer for "The
Bob Miles School of Jazz, Blues, and
Beyond", the only half-hour show on
MIND TV, also featured on NJN.  He
also has a five-minute
interview/performance on Mind TV that
was selected for nationwide broadcast
on their channel.
Jim wrote and released the CD
“Ordinary Ghosts” in 2009, He is
currently at work on a second album,
and performs songs from both
collections at his shows.
